Annotated Bibliography: Art of the South

I believe since the Family Migration Project I have been very intrigued by how people express their roots. Being an artists and being from the South, this has led me to researching Southern artists. I’m fascinated with how people project the South, and the visual imagery that we associate to it. Every area in the world has traditions and rituals that are unique to their culture. The South is no different. It’s a special area to me, and the artists I’ve researched are simply communicating the South to others, whether it’s a culture you’re familiar with or not, it should be a connection to our little part of this world. This is a study of ten artists who exemplify what it is to be Southern, through blood or through project, and who are making art about it.
